Monona Pioneer Passes Away

John Thomas Heisler, Lifelong Resident of Monona County Is Dead

Passed Away at his Home in Ticonic on Sunday Morning March 22—Was 60 Years old- Funeral Held Tuesday Afternoon

Special to Democrat by Ticonic Correspondent—

John Thomas Heisler a lifelong resident of Monona County for the last 28 years a resident of Ticonic died at his home south of Ticonic Sunday morning, March 22 at the age of 60 years and 22 days.

Mr. Heisler was born at Mapleton, March 1, 1871 the son of Henry and Elizabeth Heisler. He grew to manhood in the community of his birth.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Shull in 1896. To this union were born 6 sons, Warren of Rodney, John of Mapleton, Evans, Morris, Marchmont and Vernon who are at home and 2 daughters, Margie and Mrs. Abert Thomson of Ticonic.

Besides his widow and children his aged mother, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and 3 grandchildren, all who remain to mourn his departure.

A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches. Those who knew Mr. Heisler best pay tribute to his honest upright life and quiet home influence.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist Church at Ticonic. A message of comfort was brought by Rev. Johnson and a quartet consisting of Albert Blakely, Ivan Blakely, Abner Persinger and Paul Nagel sang “There’s a Beautiful Land,” “Some Time, Some Where,” “Rock of Ages” and “ Abide With Me.” Miss Jennie Tomlinson presided at the piano.

The attendance and the beautiful floral offerings bore evidence of the esteem with which Mr. Heisler and his family are held in the community.

Interment was made in the Grant Cemetery under the direction of Mr. Fred Willman of Rodney.
