Esther Loretta Van Dorn was born December 25, 1893 at Rodney, Iowa and died March 11, 1931 at Nevada, Iowa age 37 years 2 months 14 days.

In early life she was converted and united with the S.D.A. Church. She lived a faithful Christian life continuing her membership in the home church and fell asleep fearlessly trusting her Savior and in bright Hope of the resurrection.

She attended Union College at Lincoln, Nebraska. Aside from these 2 years in College her life was spent at the home place until July 25, 1928 when she was united in marriage to Adolph Juhl. She accompanied her husband to Union College during the closing year of his college work. Since then their home has been at Naper, Nebraska where he is employed as superintendent of the high school.

She leaves to mourn besides her husband her only surviving sister, Mrs. Geo Juhl and a host of friends where she was known.

Prayer was offered at the home by Rev. Hanner of Hornick. After which the funeral was held in the Congregational Church in Rodney, Friday at 2:30 p.m. March 13 under the direction of F.J. Wellman undertaker.

Rev. McVauch was officiating minister assisted by Rev. Anderson, both of Nevada.

Mrs. Anderson and Miss Smott of Nevada and Mrs. Gregerson of Ute sang very beautifully the songs “Face to Face,” “Sometime Well Understand” and “Have Thine Own Way Lord.”

Interment was made in the Smithland Cemetery.
