R. D. Bryan, a lifelong resident of Iowa and for over a half century a resident of Monna County, died at his home west of Blencoe last Friday evening following a paralytic stroke earlier in the week.

Mr. Bryan was born February 22, 1857 in Ida County, Iowa the son of Dan and Sarah Brown. He was united in marriage December 17, 1878 to Kate McCain.

Surviving besides the widow are three sons George W. of Washington, D.C., Jack of Onawa, Fred of Blencoe and a daughter, Mrs. Sadie Stevens also of Blencoe. There are 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Congregational Church in Blencoe in charge of Rev. E. Dudley, pastor of the Congregational Church.

Burial was made in Graceland Cemetery.

In attendance at the funeral were numerous friends from Council Bluffs and Omaha who in past years had been guest of Mr. Bryan while on hunting expeditions along the Missouri River. The Bryan latch-string was always out to these boys and a group of them including Barney and Cliff Burnham, Grover Beno and Dutch Miller flew up to Blencoe Sunday to attend the funeral services. Mr. Bryan many times had been a passenger in the plane.

Always a lover of flowers, the beautiful floral pieces at the services Sunday bore mute testimony of the esteem in which he was held by his friends.

Pallbearers were W.C. Harris, Will Davis, E.R. McElwain, Al Williams, J.F. Anderson and James Intyre.
