John Leslie Gilgen, son of Roy and Hallie Gilgen was born in Dover, Illinois January 9, 1886 and died at the Onawa Hospital February 18, 1931 aged 45 years 1 month 9 days.

On November 9, 1911 he was united in marriage to Florence Hupp. To this union 10 children were born.

He is survived by his father, his wife, four sons, Leslie, Lloyd, John and Lyle and six daughters, Mrs. Ralph Corn, Hallie, May, Pauline and Julia.

He is further survived by five brothers, Claud of St. Frances, Kansas, Clarence of Missoula, Montana, Glen and Floyd of Onawa and Paul of St. Paul, Miss. And one sister, Mrs. Lloyd Fields of Los Angeles, California.

He is also survived by one grandchild.

He was a member of the Christian Church in Dover, Illinois. He was a good father and a faithful husband and a friend and neighbor to all in need.

He has operated a farm near Onawa for 8 years and was well known and liked.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon in charge of the pastor. Burial was made in Onawa Cemetery.
