Jas C. Taylor Dies After Brief Illness

Lived In Dunlap From 1896 Until 1932, When He Moved To Logan – Masonic Lodge Member – Buried At Ute

James C. Taylor, 78, passed away at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lester D. Meyers, in Logan, Tuesday afternoon, December 13, 1938, after a brief illness. He had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Meyers for the past six years.

He was born August 6, 1859, near Maringo, Iowa and at an early age moved with his parents to a farm near Rodney.

On December 8, 1891, he was united in marriage to Ella A. Emery of Reedsburg, Wisconsin. To this union three children were born, Margaret Elizabeth Meyer of Logan, Ella Mildred Bates of Kearney, Nebraska and Jennie Gladys, who died in infancy.

The Taylor family first lived at Rodney and later moved to Sioux City where Mr. Taylor was engaged for a time in the whole-sale grocery business. Later he conducted a general merchandise store in Ute.

The family moved to Dunlap in 1896, where Mr. Taylor was engaged in the restaurant and hotel business for many years. His wife died February 12, 1921. During his residence in Logan, the past six years, he acquired many friends who will miss him greatly.

Mr. Taylor was a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1882 and at the time of his death was the oldest member of Hospitable Lodge of Dunlap.

Funeral services were held at the Yeaman Funeral Home at 1:30 Thursday, December 15, with Rev. J.G. Reinhardt, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment was at Ute.- Dunlap Reporter
