Fred Thompson, 57, of Ute, Iowa, died Tuesday in a hospital here after a brief illness.

The body will be taken to the Byers Funeral Home, Mapleton, Iowa.

Funeral Services for F.S. Thompson to Be Held at Ute Friday

Ute, Iowa—Special: Funeral services for Fred Stephen Thompson, 58, longtime Ute resident who died Tuesday in a Sioux City Hospital after a long illness, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of Christ here. Rev. Glenn Squires, pastor of the Methodist Church in Charter Oak, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery here, directed by Byers’ Funeral Home of Mapleton.

Mr. Thompson was born March 15, 1898, in Crawford County. In 1910 he married Georgia Wilkinson of Castana, Iowa. She died in 1944. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Loyalty Lodge 598, A.F. & A.M. and the Des Moines Eagles Lodge. He also was worthy patron of the Ute Eastern Star.

Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Thompson of Ute, a daughter, Mrs. Joe Steele of Ute, two sons, Robert F. of Iowa City and John H. of Ute; two sister, Mrs. Floyd Shipley of Ute and Mrs. Clyde Tracy of Antioch, California; four brothers, Clarence, Harold, Percy and Howard, all of Ute, and two grandchildren.
