Guy Everett Custer was born near Ticonic. March 28, 1897, and died at. his home near Oto Iowa, Saturday, April 17, 1926, being 29 years and 25 days old at the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife and infant son, his father, and mother, Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Custer of Oto, and four brothers, Bert of Castana, Earl of Correctionville, George and Raymond of Ticonic, also four sisters, Mrs. Mae Bridgeman, of Orson, Iowa; Mrs. Cynthia Foster of Ida Grove, and Miss Mina Foltz of Graves, Ore, and Mrs. Gladys Atkinson of Modesto, Cal. also his aged grandfather and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Foltz started to cross the mountains from Oregon, expecting to beat the train, but engine trouble prevented this, and they were so badly delayed that she did not get to Ticonic until just after the funeral. There were 45 relatives present at the funeral and the Church was unable to hold the friends who gathered to pay their parting respects to the deceased and extend heartfelt sympathy to the mourning friends. Two brothers and one sister were not present having departed this life some time ago.

Guy was the youngest son of the family and like the youngest son of the Bible dearly loved by the aged parents and his older brothers and sisters, but the. burdens of life grew too heavy for him to carry and his death followed. The funeral was held from the Methodist church, G. A. Tyler the pastor officiating and F.J. Willman, Undertaker. The choir consisted of mixed quartette composed of Mrs. Russell Woodward, Mrs. Bridgeman, Messrs. Ivan and Paula Nagle with Mrs. Ahner Persinger at the piano. Interment was in the Grant Cemetery.
