Anna Viola Funkhouser, 77, Sloan, Iowa, passed away November 24, 1984, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa, after a short illness.

She was born November 13, 1907, at Blencoe, Iowa, to Jeppe and Julia Bakke Petersen. On June 23, 1926 she was united in marriage to Floyd Funkhouser at Sioux City. They made their home in Whiting until 1936. They moved to Sloan and lived there until 1952 when they moved to Ida Grove, Iowa. They lived there for 10 years before moving back to Sloan in 1962. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Sloan, Iowa.

Survivors include, her husband, Floyd, a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Norma Jean) Powell, Sloan, Iowa, a son, Roger Ray Funkhouser, Lincoln, Neb., a brother, Lawrence Petersen, Whiting, a sister, Mrs. Walter (Carrie) Holder, Sioux City, five grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Donald and two grandsons.

Funeral services were held at 1 30 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 1984, at the First Christian Church, Sloan, Iowa with Rev Paul Martin and Rev Edward Moberg officiating. The organist was Mrs. Wilbur Ray and the soloist, Kevin Hummel sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Whispering Hope. "

Honorary bearers were Dwain Hoffman, Herbert Peterson, Carl Dahl and Carleton Carlson.

Active bearers were Keith Peterson, Jay Kirkendall, Gordon Copple, Robert Hummel, Bob Friis and Jim Goodwin.

Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery, Whiting, Iowa with arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
