Pearl Caldwell, 97, Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Little Sioux, Iowa died Tuesday, October 26,2004 at Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa, Iowa.

Pearl was born December 8, 1906 at River Sioux, Iowa, the daughter of Ed and Grace (Campbell) Richards. She attended River Sioux Elementary and High School at Little Sioux.

She was untied in marriage to Dewey Rife October 19, 1923 in Onawa. Their daughter Betty was born June 17, 1926. Dewey passed away November 11, 1979. Pearl married Ernest Caldwell December 17, 1981 at Missouri Valley, IA. Ernest passed away December 6,1999.

She lived her entire life on the Richards home farm and was a member of the Methodist Church in Little Sioux. Pearl was a good neighbor and friend and was devoted to caring for all members of her family until the death of Ernest, when she made her home at Elmwood Care Centre.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty and her husband Grover Gee of Mondamin, IA; a step-daughter, Carol and her husband Jim Kerns of Springfield, MO; a stepson Alvie Caldwell and his wife Bonnie of Waukegan, IL; a daughter-in-law, Donna Caldwell King and her husband Larry of Missouri Valley; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and nieces, Joan (Don) Neese of Missouri Valley, Sherri (Jim) Daubert and family of Lincoln, NE, Vicki (Ted) Myers of Logan, IA and their children, Kandice (Josh) Paracsi of Kansas City, MO, Krystal and Brock Myers of Logan, and Bonnie (Wilbur) Krauth and son Jimmy of Lompoc, CA and a nephew Bill (Maxine) Rife of Fillmore, CA.

In addition to her husbands, she was, preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Violet Hall and Garnet Rife; a stepson, Austin Caldwell and a niece, Vera Thompson.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Little Sioux United Methodist Church with Pastor DeeAnn Klapp, officiating. Music selections were an organ solo "In The Garden" a solo "How Great Thou Art" and the congregation singing "The Old Rugged Cross". Sarah Bryceson was soloist and Madylon Perley, organist. Burial was in Little Sioux Cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Casket bearers were Paul Kerns, Lowell McCracken, David Caldwell, Rick Shearer, Jim Daubert and Ted Myers.

Honorary bearers were John Kerns, Jeff Caldwell, Steve Caldwell, Jess Shearer, Michael Caldwell and Scott Jacobs.

Memorials will be given to the Little Sioux United Methodist Church.
