13 December 2017Vincent E. Hamman, 81, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, surrounded by his loved ones.
Memorial services will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at the Castana Community Church in Castana, Iowa, with Pastor Harvey Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in Kennebec Cemetery, Castana, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
Vincent Eugene was born on December 3, 1935, in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of F. Clifford and Mae (Fokken) Hamman. He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1955.
Vincent worked for Hugo Mahloch, in the maintenance department at Dubuque Pack, and for Winnavegas Inn.
Vincent was a talented mechanic and loved his chickens.
Survivors include Gloria Maxwell of Onawa, IA; one son, V. Eugene Hamman of Onawa, IA; one grandson, Myron (Geneva Dobbs) Hamman of Summers, AR; one step-son, Randy (JoAnn) Maxwell & children of Onawa, IA; three step-daughters, Karen Bartelson & children of Onawa, IA, Jodi Samuelson & son of Onawa, IA, and Carla (Carl) Bermeister & children of Colorado; four sisters, Agnes Olson of Wauseon, OH, Joan (Walter) Potts of Williamsburg, VA, Patricia Thompson of Missouri Valley, IA; and Betty Lou Brotherton of Council Bluffs, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his youngest son, Keith Hamman; one sister and her husband, Eleanor and George Harrison; three brothers, F. Donald and his wife, Agnes Hamman, J. Robert Hamman, and David C. Hamman; and three brothers-in-law, Clark Olson, Robert Thompson, and Ernest Brotherton.
