Mapleton, Iowa-- 1983

Robert “Bob” McCleerey, 60, of Mapleton died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton. The Rev. Dick Kranbeck, pastor of St. John’s United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mr. McCleerey was born February 6, 1923 at Mapleton and was a lifelong area resident.

He was an active member of the Monona County Saddle Club and a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Mary McCleerey of Mapleton, one sister, Mrs. Robert (Gloria) Sawin of Granada Hills, California.

Mr. McCleerey was born February 6, 1923 to Ray and Mary (Bliss) McCleerey at Mapleton and was a lifelong area resident.

He was an active member of the Monona County Saddle Club and a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

Survivors include his mother, Mary McCleerey of Mapleton and one sister, Mrs. Robert (Gloria) Sawin of Granada Hills, California.

Pallbearers were Perry O'Connor, Freddie O'Connor, David Rose, Larry Hinkel, Curt Sawin and Larry Schoenfeld.
