Smithland, Iowa-- Earl Christman, 53, of Smithland, died at the residence June 2 of an apparent heart attack.

Services will be at 10 a.m. June 5, in St. Mary Catholic Church at Oto. The Rev. A.H. Ocken and the Rev. Jan Lisowski will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery at Mapleton.

The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. June 4 in the Willman Funeral Home at Rodney.

Mr. Christman was born July 2, 1921 at Smithland and lived there all his life. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of Leslie F. Seaton Post 66 of the American Legion at Smithland.

He was employed by the Western Iowa Association the last 28 years. He was a current member of the Smithland Town Council.

He married Rose Ann Brenner May 22, 1945 at Mineral wells, Texas.

Survivors include the widow, a son, Richard “Skip” of Minneapolis, Minnesota and one daughter, Miss Mary Ann of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Nellie) LaMont of San Diego, California and Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Jensen of Moville and two brothers, George of Sioux City and Charles of Smithland.
