Jane Callaghan, 75, rural Mapleton, died Thursday, March 11, 1982 in the Methodist Hospital at Rochester, Minnesota.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Mapleton. The Rev. Richard Hempenius officiated. Burial was in the Willow Township Cemetery in Holly Springs, Iowa under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home of Mapleton.

Mrs. Callaghan was born on November 23, 1906 to James Gaston and Elizabeth (Gaven) Gaston in Buffalo, New York.

She lived in New York and worked for the New York Telephone Company there until her marriage. Jane was married to Ray Callaghan on October 5, 1946 at Buffalo, New York. To this union a son was born.

She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Senior Citizens and Loren Hollister post, American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Ray; one son, Richard of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Claude (Betty) Hartman of Buffalo, New York, and two grandsons, Scott and Todd.

Pall bearers were Wayne Seuntjens, Martin Thies, Norman Christensen, Donald Theobald, Leonard Peterson and Norman Parker.
