Rodney, Iowa – Edward Henry Collins, 75, of Rodney, died Monday in a Sioux City hospital of brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Rodney United Church of Christ. The Revs. Dale Church and Robert Peters will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery at Battle Creek, Nebraska. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today at the Willman Funeral Home of Rodney.

Mr. Collins was born October 15, 1904 at Meadow Grove, Nebraska.

He married Evelyn Marshall August 30, 1924 at Yankton, S.D. They lived at Coleridge, Nebraska where he was an automobile dealer for more than 25 years. She died in 1967. He married Alice Peters in 1968. They lived in Coleridge until 1969 when he retired, and they moved to Rodney. They lived in Mesa, Arizona during the winters.

During World War II he was an automotive advisor for the Second Air Force.

He was a member of the Rodney United Church of Christ, Blue Lodge Master Masons, Order of Eastern Star, Areme Chapter 124 and Relief Lodge 219, all of Coleridge, Royal Arch Masons, Haggai Chapter 39 of Wakefield, Nebraska, Nebraska York Rite of Freemasonary Commandery 20 of Norfolk, Nebraska and Abu-Bekr Shrine Temple of Sioux City..

Survivors include the widow, three sons, Gene of Cedar Rapids, Richard of Laurel, Nebraska and Keith of Sioux City; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Claire) Swayngim of Hendersonville, N.C., 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two step-sons, one step-daughter, and nine step-grandchildren.
