Geraldine "Gerri" M. Copple, 89, of Sloan, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, Iowa, with the Rev. Craig Bock officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Township Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Geraldine Mae "Gerri" was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Irvin and Geneva (Allen) Baker. She was raised in the Sloan area and attended Sloan school, graduating in 1946.

Gerri and Gordon Copple were united in marriage on Sept. 24, 1946. The couple loved to travel, having been in 49 states, Canada and Mexico. They spent many winters in Mesa, Ariz., enjoying the weather and making new friends. Gordon passed away in February 2015. Gerri moved to Pleasant View Assisted Living in September 2016.

Gerri was employed by MidAmerican Energy (formerly IPS) for 25 years, retiring in 1990.

Gerri was a lifelong member of Skien Lutheran Church in Albaton, where she was baptized and confirmed. She taught Sunday school and was treasurer of General Aid for several years.

Survivors include her children, Mike (Jean) Copple of Norwalk, Iowa, Terri (Mac) McDonald of Montezuma, Iowa, and Tom (Peg) Copple of Sloan; daughter-in-law, Joan Copple of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Salisbury of Hobart, Ind., and Connie Holman of Sioux City; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; son, Allen; two infant children; parents, Irvin and Geneva Baker; and sisters, Loretta Haakinson and Evelyn Salberg.
