Peter Lamb was born in Charlotte, Iowa, January 10, 1859, the son of Peter and Abell Kruse Lamb, His ancestors for centuries were native settlers in Probstei, a Schonberg in the Dutch Holstein. His parents came to the United States in 1852 and settled on a farm in Clinton County, Iowa. Peter spent his boyhood on his father’s farm and attended the district school.

In 1880 he married Louise Peterson, the daughter of Peter and Christine Matthies Peterson. After their marriage, they located on their farm near Charlotte in Clinton County and spent the next seventeen years in the farming and livestock business.

In 1897 Peter with his wife Louise and their three Children, Thersa born August 14, 1881, Harriet born November 8, 1885 and Henry born July 22, 1888, moved to Mapleton and made their home on Section 23, Maple Township. Peter Lamb was interested in farming, livestock and grain business. He owned the Lamb Mill and elevator and in 1915, he opened the First National Bank and was its president until his death in 1928.

Mrs. Lamb maintained her interest in the business and was active in community activities. She was a member of the Methodist Church and a charter member of the Women's Civic Improvement Club of Mapleton.

Mrs. Lamb passed away October 8, 1946

Mr. and Mrs. Lamb's daughter Thersa married Theodore H Schoenjahn, their daughter Harriet married Floyd R Wilson, Their son Henry passed away in March 1905.
