STACYVILLE, IOWA – Helen A. Falada, 90, of Stacyville, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2018 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home where she resided.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Fr. David Hemann officiating. Burial will be at the Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5 at Visitation Catholic Church with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m.

Stacyville, Iowa – Helen A. Falada, 90, of Stacyville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 1, 2018 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home where she resided.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Fr. David Hemann officiating. Burial will be at the Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5 at Visitation Catholic Church with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m.

Helen Agatha Hemann, daughter of John N. and Mary B. (Gerber) Hemann, was born in Stacyville, Iowa on the family home farm. She attended Visitation School graduating in 1946.

On July 5, 1958, she was married to John F. Falada, at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. They were blessed with three children, Ann, Greg and Judy. Helen worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. C.E. Staudt for 5 years followed by 2 years for Dr. R. Swale. She last worked at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home for 27 years, retiring in 1995, where she worked in housekeeping and the kitchen. She was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church and Choir, Christian Mothers and Women’s Catholic Order of Forester’s.

Helen loved life, her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting and was genuinely interested in people and their lives. She was an active resident participating in all activities at the Nursing Home. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, crocheting, embroidering, watching the Twins and sharing her baking. Helen was widowed in 1979 and made the most out of her life with her family and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; brothers: Clarence, Roman and Herbert. Also, preceded in death by John’s parents, his three siblings and spouses.

She is survived by her three children: Ann (Lee) Brauckmuller of Rochester, MN, Greg (Annie) Falada of Nashville, TN, and Judy (Mark) Rowland of Prior Lake, MN; two granddaughters, Laura Brauckmuller and Emily (Brauckmuller) McGaw; grandson, Tommy Rowland; brother, Alfred (Darlene); sister, Marie (Glenn); and by a sister-in-law, Irene.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Visitation Catholic Church or Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Stacyville Nursing Home Staff, Dr. Kelly Ross of St. Ansgar Clinic, St. Croix Hospice Team and Jean Wagner, RN, CNP, Mayo Clinic Congestive Heart Failure.
