Mildred Ruth (Balsley) Wilmot Whitcomb, 96, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on June 2, 2018, in Mesa, Arizona.

She was born on July 3, 1921, in Orchard, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred Dennis Balsley and Almeda Marie Baker. She graduated from Orchard Consolidated High School in 1938.

Mildred married Frank A. Wilmot on Oct. 14, 1939; they had one son. Frank passed away in 1948. Mildred worked at the egg plant in Osage, Iowa, and was then employed by the Geo. A. Hormel Co. in 1948. For 31 years, she worked in various departments for the company, retiring in November 1979.

Mildred married the delight of her life, Donald Whitcomb, on Sept. 16, 1955. They enjoyed fishing in Canada, bowling and traveling. They spent 30 years wintering in Edinburg, Texas. Donald passed away on Nov. 12, 2016. She was a member of the Austin Church of Christ for 54 years.

Mildred is survived by her son, Wayne A. (Linda) Wilmot, Coon Rapids, Minnesota; step-son, Patrick (Silvia) Whitcomb, Faribault, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Wayne F. (Barb) Wilmot, Alden, Minnesota, and Susette (Monte) Kuehl, Madison Lake, Minnesota; three step-grandchildren, Christina, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Brandon, Faribault, and Patrick, Glendora, California; two great-grandchildren, Michelle (Ben) Meyer and Cherie (Matt) Morgan; four great-great-grandchildren, Anabelle and Lillyana Meyer and Laurelai and Raleigh Morgan; one sister, Barbara Grinstead, Austin; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marcella Serleth and Catherine Wigant; her brother, A.J. Balsley; in-laws, Harold and Myrtle Whitcomb; and brothers-in-law, the Rev. Eugene, Jim and Roger Whitcomb.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at the Austin Church of Christ. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be on Aug. 11, 2018, in the Orchard, Iowa, Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Austin Church of Christ.
