He passed away on February 15, 2016, while living at Northwood, Worth county, Iowa.

The body was cremated.

Siblings include: Colette Ellingson, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Ann (Dave) Tyler, of Mason City, Iowa, and Barbara Garcia, of Osage, Iowa, and Byron "Mike" Ellingson, of Clarence, Iowa.
