Obituary for Pearl Leona Gross

Pearl Leona Gross, 93, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 20, at Allen Hospital UnityPoint Health in Waterloo.

She was born May 21, 1924, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of John Andrew and Martha Mary Grawe Petsche. She married Wayne Gross on November 21, 1942, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Pearl was employed in telephone sales and at Sears for ten years, retiring in April of 1986.

Survivors include: her husband, Wayne of Waterloo; her children, Sally (William) Strand of Fla, Quentin (Margo) Gross of N.C., Dale (Pamela) Gross of Waterloo, Dawn (Dave) Davison of Ark, Matthew (Suzie) Gross of Calif, and Todd Gross of Fla; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Anna Mae (Duane) Jaschen of Waterloo; a brother, John “Jack” Petsche of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: her son, Jeffrey Gross; a brother, Charles Petsche; a sister-in-law, Fran Petsche.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 25, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 3 p.m. Legion of Mary Rosary and 6 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church.
