LINDELIEN, GOPLERUD, OLSDATTER UHLEN

Levor Oleson Lindelien was born February 10, 1825 at North Lindelien, Aadalen, Buskerud, Norway to Ole Levorsen Goplerud Lindelien and Thora Olsdatter.

Levor emigrated 1850 to Wisconsin. Found on the ship's list for July 16, 1850 leaving Drammen for New York, ship name, Christiana. Ole and Harald Uhlen are on this same list as are Ingeborg and Gjertrude Uhlen (Ingeborg was Levor's future wife).

In 1852, Levor laid claim to land in Section 12 of Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, just north of Meroa, an area known as Walnut Grove. He also made a claim for his friend, Ole C. Haraldson on Section 1-98-17.

Levor returned to Wisconsin and married Ingeborg Olsdatter Uhlen on May 26, 1853 at Albany, Green, Wisconsin.

That same summer of 1853, Levor and Ingeborg and the O C Haraldson family moved to Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, each bringing two ox teams and a wagon.

Levor and Ingeborg Lindelien had 11 children who were all born at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and used the surname Olson or Olsen as adults:
Olaves Theodore (b May 26, 1859, d 1866 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa);

Hans Lauritz (b March 19, 1881, d May 14, 1930 Becker, Minnesota);

Johan Gerhard (b February 2, 1864, d March 1928 Mitchell, Iowa);

Levi Oscar (b March 11, 1866, d April 3, 1922 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa);

Anna and Ida (stillborn twins, b/d November 1868 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa);

Olava Thorine (b April 6, 1869, d April 7, 1901 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa);

Peder Olaus (b July 15, 1871, d June 8, 1890 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa);

Ingvald Leonhard (b October 8, 1873, d 1874 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa);

Inger Andrea (b July 18, 1876, d January 3, 1890 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa) and

Anna Guliana (b November 18, 1878, d May 14, 1960 Grafton, Walsh, North Dakota.)

Levor donated land for a one room schoolhouse to be built in Meroa, across the road from the newly constructed Rock Creek Lutheran Church.

Found in the 1860 - 1885 censuses living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1860: Levi Oleson 34, Isabel Oleson 24, Olarvus T Oleson 1, Edward Ashelson 23.

1870: Levi Oleson 45, Isabel Oleson 36, Lewis Oleson 9, John Oleson 6, Oscar Oleson 4, Torena Oleson 1, Ole Hawlson 57, Jane Hawlson 77. ***

1880: Levi Olieson 55, Isabel Olieson 44, Lars Olieson 19, Johann Olieson 16, Oscar Olieson 14, Thorine Olieson 11, Peter Olieson 9, Isabel Olieson 4, Anna Olieson 2, Ole Harleson 67, Gertrude Harleson 88, Gabriel Frederickson 20, Hans Strange 20, Julia Johnson 18, Occupation: Farmer.

Levi Olsen Lindelien died September 20, 1896 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
