Final discharge from earthly service came to A. Q. Frizzell, another one of our Civil war veterans on Monday following a short illness. Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon from the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. H. Freedline. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Criswell, Mrs. F. A. Sullivan and Wm. Lawrence with Mrs. Clyde Rhoads at the piano. The body was taken to East Liberty cemetery for interment on the family lot beside the grave of his wife who passed away several years ago. The active pallbearers were George Buffington, Frank Buffington, Gerald Buffington, Charles Prindle, John Wolfe and Fred Bishop while a group of his Civil war comrades acted as an escort of honor.

Algernon Quincy Frizzell was born in Missouri November 18, 1845 and departed this life in Glenwood, Iowa February 20, 1928. When he was only 7 years old he came to Mills county, Iowa, where he lived most of his life. November 24, 1864, he enlisted in Company G and later in Company C, Colorado Cavalry and served his country loyally till he was discharged for faithful service on November 18, 1865. On December 30 1868, he was united in marriage with Sarah Jane Wilson. To this union were born the following children: Media Ann Bevan of Liberal, Kas.; Elijah H. Frizzell of Greeley, Colo.; John H. Frizzell of Christopher, Ill.; Violet L. Hill of Fairmont, Neb.; and William N. Frizzell of Corning, Cal. Three children preceded the father to the spirit world. June 12, 1912 he was bereft of his companion, who with him traveled down life’s trail for forty-four years. In addition to the five children he also leaves ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and was the last member of his family to answer roll call. From 1893 to 1903 he lived in Nebraska, after which he returned to Iowa. After the death of his companion for several years he made his home with his daughter Mrs. Bevan and visited among the other children. In 1924 he came to Glenwood, Ia., and made his home with Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hathaway until his death. He was a good citizen and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
