SERVCIES FOR THELMA WELTY
Thelma Marie Welty was born April 8, 1909 in Garner, Iowa to Jens and Marie (Gilge) Moe and died in Shenandoah February 2, 1985 at the age of 75 years.
Thelma was married to Lloyd Blank February 25, 1934, who died August 21, 1960.
She married Donald Welty June 28, 1974.
She was raised in the Garner Britt area, moving to Emerson after her first marriage. She was a teacher for awhile and owned and managed to Southwest Telephone Exchange in Emerson for over 20 years before moving to Shenandoah in 1978.
Thelma was a member of the United Church of Christ in Shenandoah, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #121, Emerson, and spent many ears on the County Board of Education as well as the Independent Telephone Association.
She is survived by one son, C. J. Blank, Emerson, one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Loydene) Steen, Emerson; a stepson, Richard Welty, Shenandoah; by eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and by three sisters, Martha Hildebrandt, Josephine Horstman, and Theresa Gault, all of Britt, Iowa.
Services were held at the United Methodist Church, Emerson, Monday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. George Weitzel and Rev. Ed Cox officiating. Sellegren Lindell Funeral Home of Red Oak was in charge of the arrangements.
Interment was in the Emerson Cemetery.
