Death Of A Pioneer

Mrs. J.S. Coburn died about one o’clock Tuesday afternoon at her home in Silver City, after an illness of a few months’ duration.

Estella Herrick was born in Varrick (sic) county, New York, on June 3, 1859 and died December 7, 1915, aged 56 years, 6 months and 4 days.

In the fall of 1871 she came to Mills county, where she has ever since made her home.

She was married to John S. Coburn July 4, 1876. To this union four children were born: Elery G. of Council Bluffs; Birdie, deceased; Mrs. Nellie Sawyer and W.O. of Silver City. Besides these, Mrs. Coburn is survived by her husband, one brother, C.D. Herrick of Los Angeles, Cal., one granddaughter, Evelyn Coburn; one grandson, Kenneth Sawyer, and hosts of friends who join the family in mourning her departure from this life.

Mrs. Coburn was a good woman, a kind and loving wife and mother and an excellent neighbor. She was always ready and willing to do her share to soften the labor of grief caused by illness or death in the home of her neighbors. She will be greatly missed from her circle of friends.

The funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Baptist church, and will be conducted by the Rev. E.L Field. Burial will be made in the Silver City cemetery.
