George Dannen Dies Monday; Rites Wednesday
Rhodes – George Dannen, 45, of Rhodes, a service station owner in Rhodes since 1954, and a member of the Rhodes City Council, died Monday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Rhodes.
The Rev. Lloyd Musser, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Eden Cemetery in Rhodes.
The Rhodes American Legion Post No. 456 will conduct military services.
Memorial contributions to a fund in Mr. Dannen’s name will be accepted.
Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter is handling arrangements.
Survivors are six brothers, Duane of Rhodes, Jerry of Rhodes, Jake of Rhodes, Leonard of Rhodes, Lloyd of Missouri Valley and Max of Marshalltown; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Marjorie) Stewart of Gilman and Mrs. Lloyd (Joan) Varnum of Colorado Springs, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Mr. Dannen, a veteran of World War II, was a member of the American Legion and the Rhodes Fire Department.
The son of John and Freda Krausman Dannen, he was born Dec. 3, 1930 in Marshall County and attended Marshalltown County schools.
