William H. (Bill) Eckhart, 74, son of pioneer Marshall county parents and a lifetime resident of the State Center community, passed away at the hospital in Story City Monday morning following an illness of ten days duration. He had been in failing health for the past year.

Funeral services were held at St Paul Lutheran Church Wednesday in charge of the Rev LaVerne R. Meinecke, pastor of the church. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery in State Center.

Born March 27, 1892 in Marshall county, Mr. Eckhart was the son of William and Minnie Dorries Eckhart. He was married to Miss Lucretia Riemenschneider at State Center on September 16, 1913. They made their home on a farm five miles southwest of State Center for twenty-five years after which they moved to a new place adjacent to the home farm.

Mr. Eckhart was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his widow, eight children, Mrs. Harold (Lois) Smith of Colo, Glenn of Melbourne, Mrs Raymond (Janet) Eggers of State Center, Mrs. Ernest (Doris) Westphal of State Center, Mrs. Merle (Helen) Nolta of Fort Dodge, John H. at home and William R. of State Center.

Also surviving are twenty-four grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and six sisters, Mrs Mary Henze, Mrs. Emma Hutson, Mrs. Ella Dusher, Mrs. Albert Hall, Mrs. Amanda Hall and Mrs. Ida Probst, all of State Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
