GRIMES

Mrs. Mary Grimes, relict of John Grimes, for many years a resident of Dillon, but for the past two years of this city, where she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Charles S. Brush, of 209 West Main street, died Saturday evening at 5:50 o'clock after an illness of about a week with paralysis. Mrs. Grimes had been a resident of Marshall county for twenty-one years, all but three years of which were spent in Dillon. Mary Jane Wells was born near Blairsburg, Pa. seventy-four years ago and when 12 years of age removed to near Lexington, Perry county, Ohio, where she resided until her marriage to Mr. Grimes on March 9, 1850. She then moved to Decatur, Ill., where she resided for a few years, and after going back to Ohio again for a few years' stay came to Dillon, where she lived until after the death of her husband, a few years ago. The deceased had been a member of the Methodist church for over thirty years, retaining her membership in Ohio. She is survived by five children - Mrs. Sadie Brackney, of Fonda; Mrs. John Everist, of Clemons; Mrs. C. S. Brush, of this city; Mr. John Grimes, of Fort Dodge, and Mr. David Grimes, of Worthington, Minn. The funeral was conducted by Chaplain Jesse Cole, of the Soldier's Home, at 1 o'clock this afternoon from the Brush residence. The remains were taken to the Rock Valley cemetery for interment.
