MERRYMAN

William L. Merryman, residing at 308 South First street, died Sunday morning at 3 o'clock, of cancer of the stomach. Mr. Merryman had been in failing health during the past two years, and for several weeks has been critically ill and a great sufferer. Mr. Merryman was born in Decatur county, Ind., Oct. 31, 1853, and was therefore in his 50th year. He came to Iowa and settled in Jasper county, and resided there until nine years ago, when he removed to Marshalltown. In 1874 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Herring. Ten children were the result of this union, and all were present at the time of his death, with the exception of Walter, who is employed in Fort Dodge, and Gideon, who died in infancy. The surviving children are Larkin, Walter, Will, Victor, Viola, Maggie, Otto, Laura and Leota. One brother, Mr. H. A. Merryman, of this city and two sisters, Mrs. A. L. Eubank, of Kellogg, and Mrs. G. M. Patrick, of Kanawah, also survive. During his residence in Marshalltown Mr. Merryman was engaged in the coal business. The funeral will be held at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, from the residence on South First street, Rev. W. H. Scott, of the Christian church, officiating.
