Pella Herald: J. Van Domselaar died at his home in Pella, January 29, 1894, aged 73 years and 4 days. Was born January 22, 1821, in the Netherlands. In 1857 he came to America, settling at Pella, and soon afterwards marrying Mrs. Van de Haar, a widow with several children. He quickly learned the English language. After about two years he removed to Carthage, Illinois, but returned to Pella in 1878, where he has since lived. In 1885 he was bereft of his wife. Almost all of his life was spent on a farm. About one year ago he was stricken with paralysis, but recovered sufficiently to go about. During the last forty-eight hours of his life he was unconscious.
