He was born Dec. 7, 1831, in Canton Neufchatel, Switzerland, and came to this country in 1865, and to Knoxville in 1870, where he has since resided. About six months or more ago his health began to fail, his lungs giving him trouble, and since December has been confined to the house, and most of the time to his bed, but during all of his long sickness he received the tenderest care and attention from family and faithful nurses, and all was done that could be done for this comfort, but he gradually grow worse until the end. He was a member of the Odd Fellow and Masonic Orders of this city, who gave him faithful attention throughout his sickness. Funeral services were held at his late residence on Thursday, conducted by Revs. Bryant and Yeter, the burial taking place in Graceland cemetery, in the charge of the Masonic Order. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of this entire community in their affliction.
