Visser, Engle “Babe” – 1912-1984

Engle (Babe) Visser, 72, Harvey, Iowa, died Dec. 1 at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born May 8, 1912, the son of Maggie Vander Veer and Henry Visser.
Engle married Betty Jane Thomas on June 21, 1946. He farmed, had a truck garden and operated a salvage business. He was a veteran of the Army during World War II, serving in the engineering battalion. He was a member of the Harvey Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife; his mother, Maggie Visser, Pella; two brothers: John, Harvey and LaVerne, Pella; three sisters: Wilma Troger, Prairie City, Johanna Manges, Pella; and Estelene DeJong, Pella; two sons Glenn of Harvey and Dwight of Knoxville; a daughter Linda Visser, Hot Springs, Arkansas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, and his father.
Services were held Dec. 4 at the Assembly of God Church, Harvey, with pastor Elizabeth De Greef officiating. Interment was at Breckenridge Cemetery in Marion County.
