HOLLINGSWORTH - John Hollingsworth, one of the oldest pioneers of Mahaska county passed away this morning at four o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bradley Sawyer, near Rose Hill. The funeral is announced for Monday, May 23, at 11 o'clock a.m. at Rose Hill, with interment in Hopewell cemetery. John Hollingsworth was one of the best known figures in pioneer life of northeast Mahaska. He came to Monroe township about 1859 and has since been a successful farmer of Monroe township. He was for years the Miller at Currier's mill, located on Skunk river between Oskaloosa and Rose Hill and was widely known. His death although not unexpected brings sorrow and grief to a large circle of relatives and friends. He was a good man and his death causes regret throughout the county.
