Hubert L. Parker (1927-2021)

Hubert L. Parker was born on September 12, 1927, at Abbott Hospital in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and died August 9, 2021, at the Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

He is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Luella Mae (Jones) Parker; his oldest son Steven L. Parker; his only daughter Debra J. Parker; his parents, Roy and Bernice (Williams) Parker; and all his siblings: Herbert Parker, Rita Smith, Retha Van Rees, and Patricia Parker.
He is survived by his three other sons Gary (Mike Joines), Jerry (Dyan) and Todd Parker (Sheri Arnold); his daughter-in-law, Donna Parker; six grandchildren: Amber Carter (Harrison), April McCrea (Tod), Jared Parker, Cameron Parker, Bailey Parker and Brent Parker; a great grandson, Ethan Carter; and three great granddaughters: Kalin, Charlotte, and Presley McCrea.

After graduating from Bussey High School in 1944, Hubert enrolled at Iowa State University at the age of 16. Except for his college years and his stint in the army in the Korean War, he lived and worked his entire life on the family farm in Mahaska County, the farm which his grandfather bought in 1892. When not busy farming he was a board member for Twin Cedars High School, the State and County Conservation Boards, the Mahaska County Rural Water Board, SIEDA, the Agency on Aging, and the Mahaska County Farm Bureau Board. He was also a Trustee for Jefferson Township, a Mahaska County Supervisor, a member of the American Legion, an avid outdoorsman, and a life-long supporter of Union Liberty Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Union Liberty Church or to the Bussey Fire Department.
