DOUBLE DEATH - Mrs. Wm. DeBie and Mrs. Emma Algood, Both Daughters of Mr. and Mrs. William Carr, Die Near Together.

New Sharon Star: The sad news of the death of Mrs. Wm. DeBie, formerly Miss Mattie Carr, at her home in Lansing, Mich., was received here Sunday, and the body, accompanied by friends and relatives, arrived here Monday afternoon. While the funeral party were partaking of supper at the Bates Cafe a message arrived stating that Mrs. DeBie's sister, Mrs. Robert Algood, formerly Emma Carr, had also died at her home in Lansing.
Miss Mattie Carr, was born October 20, 1869, in St. Claire county, Mo., and moved with her parents to New Sharon in 1874 where she grew to womanhood, and graduated from our high school in 1891.
February 5, 1903, she was united in marriage to Wm. DeBie of Oskaloosa and for many years they resided in that city. For the past few years they have resided in Lansing, Mich., where Mrs. DeBie died February 9, after a short illness of pneumonia.
She leaves a husband, three children, father, mother, two brothers and other relatives and friends to mourn their loss.
The remains were brought to New Sharon Monday afternoon and after short services conducted by Rev. P.M. Conant, they were laid to rest in Highland cemetery.
The following accompanied the body to this city: Wm. DeBie and three children of Lansing, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Carr, Mrs. M.A. Carr, Mrs. Sam Carr, J.O. Elmwood, Mr. and Mrs. John Jones, Mr.and Mrs. Ed Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. DeBie, Oskaloosa; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Carr, Clarion, Iowa. (source: unknown)
