The home of Dr. and Mrs. William E. Berry at 116 Rosenberger avenue was the setting for the marriage of their youngest daughter, Miss Clare Berry, to William H. Newman of Chicago, Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Newman of Topeka, Kan., at 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon, August 15, 1936, in the presence of the immediate families and a few intimate friends.
Mrs. Newman has lived most of her life in Oskaloosa and is a graduate of Oskaloosa high school and has been a student in William Penn college and the University of Chicago. The past year she did secretarial work for the Chicago Area office of the American Friends' Service Committee.
Mr. Newman is a graduate of Friends' University. He holds a doctor's degree from the School of Business of the University of Chicago where he has also taught. He has been connected for two years with the McKnisey-Wellington Company of Chicago and recently accepted an appointment as assistant to the chairman of the Board of Marshall Fields & Co. of Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Newman left immediately on a two weeks motoring trip to Colorado and after September 15 will be at home at 5514 south Blackstone avenue, Chicago. (Source unknown; likely the Oskaloosa Herald)
