Greg Eveland, 72, of Winterset, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center.
Greg was born on September 28, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Richard and Gladys (Aswegan) Eveland. He grew up in the Des Moines area and attended Des Moines Tech in 1971. Following high school, Greg proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He later built a career as an electrician.
On October 5, 1996, Greg was united in marriage to Marcia Newton. Together they made their home in the Winterset area, where they spent the last 30 years. Greg enjoyed the outdoors and was a longtime member of the Madison County Sportsman Club. He especially loved fishing and cherished the time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Eveland; sons, Nathan (Carleen) Eveland and Nick (Jenny Pitts) Eveland; sisters, Sandy (Bob) Smith and Kathy Eveland; brother-in-law, Marty Newton, sister-in-law, Marilyn (Gary) Culver; grandchildren, Allie, Lexie, Madison, Parker, and Amanda; great grandson, Terrence; nieces, Morgan, McKenzie, Madison, Megan, Sarah Lynn, Sarah Jane and Candace; nephews, Dillon, Jacob, David (Jackie), and Joseph (Sasha), several other nieces and nephews; and his beloved puppy dogs, Della and Lacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gladys Eveland.
A private family memorial service will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
