Darlene Eckstein, 85, of Winterset, Iowa passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Stuart Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa.
Darlene Maxine Osborn was born in Winterset, Iowa on July 16, 1938 to Homer and Grace (Morse) Osborn. She graduated from Winterset High School class of 1956 and was united in marriage to James Eckstein on June 10, 1956 at the Oak Grove Church, rural Madison County. They lived in Earlham and Macksburg for a short time before settling on the homestead in rural Winterset. She was a devoted homemaker, raising her children and helping Jim on the farm.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Mori) Sorenson and Jeanie (Bob) Stephens; sister, Dorothy Beebe; 4 grandchildren, Jason Sorenson, Quentin Sorsenson, Nick Eckstein, and Angelina Eckstein; and 8 great-grandchildren, Gavin Schmitt, Aleric Wilson, Cael Schmitt, Kaylyn Wilson, Jude Sorsenson, Jonah Sorenson, Grayson Sorensen, and Jaxon Sorenson.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Grace Osborn; husband, Jim Eckstein; son, Dwight Eckstein; daughter-in-law, Michelle (Hart) Eckstein; brothers, Walter Osborn and Dennis Osborn; and sisters, Margaret Bittinger and Diane Kerr.
