Patricia “Pat” Ann Froelich, 71, of Winterset passed peacefully, April 5, 2024. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd) with a celebration of life beginning at 2:00 pm. A private burial will follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Pat was born March 31, 1953, in Tooele, Utah, to Dan and Lou Merrill. She attended Hayward High School and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree of Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education.

Pat’s first teaching position was in Sabula. After accepting a teaching position in Parkersburg, Pat married her long-time love, Keith Froelich on July 2, 1977, in Cedar Falls.

Pat had a passion for quilting, needle point, and reading. She was an avid gardener in every season.  Pat’s most precious joy in life was her five children and seven grandchildren.

Pat is survived by her mother, Lou Nall of Folsom, CA; her brother, George (Bill) Merrill of Napa, CA; her half-sister, Kristi Aruza of Brentwood, CA; and two stepsisters, Diana Adams of Placerville, CA and Carole Harrington of Tracy, CA. Husband, Keith of Winterset; two daughters, Kathryn (Brian) Wuollet of Waukee  and Karyn (Justin) Boaz of Pilot Mountain, NC; two sons, Michael Froelich of Gillette, WY and Jonathan Froelich of Whiteman AFB/Knob Noster, MO. Her seven grandchildren: Graham Wuollet, Madelyn Wuollet, Laurel Wuollet of Waukee; Addyson Boaz, McCray Boaz, Neyland Boaz and Woodrow Boaz of Pilot Mountain, NC; as well as many nephews, niece, and other loving family and friends. Pat is preceded in death by her infant son, David Allan Froelich; her father, George (Dan) W. Merrill; and her brother, James (Jim) B. Merrill.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the John Stoddard Cancer Center for the exceptional care for Pat over the past 5 years. Pat was a member of Faith Lutheran Church (LCMS). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to John Stoddard Cancer Center. Checks payable to the John Stoddard Cancer Center.
