Beverly Allsup

Beverly Allsup, 92, of Winterset, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 19 at the funeral home, with burial to follow in the Earlham Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Worthington Community Church, Earlham.

Beverly was born on May 4, 1930 to Fred and Myrtle (Phillips) Drake in Indianola, Iowa. She attended East High School in Des Moines, Iowa and married James Allsup in Milo on September 3, 1946. She has been a member of the Worthington Church since 1962, and was also a member of the Earlham Art Group and the Sewing Circle in Winterset.

Beverly enjoyed sewing and knitting in her spare time. She was an avid reader and liked to tend to her garden, canning many vegetables in the late summer. Beverly was also a wonderful cook and baker making many good meals and treats. Many memories were made working the booth at the Covered Bridge Festival and making stick horses, bonnets, shawls and aprons with the Earlham Art Group. Beverly had a wonderful doll collection and enjoyed digging through the boxes while at the auction looking for her next good find. She loved being involved in her children and grand children’s activities, and spending time with them all.

Beverly is survived by her children, Jimmy Allsup of Prole, Dennis (Kathy) Allsup of Winterset, Kathy Vaughn of Winterset, and Becky (Keith) McDonald-Piatt of Winterset; sisters, Judy Murray of Des Moines, Dixie Conkling of Winterset, and Roberta Hatfield of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren, Jamey, Matthew, Daniel, Chad, Angela, Joe, Tamie, John, Sara, Amy, Riley, Stephanie, Laura, and Steven Matthew; along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; brothers, Riley Drake and John Drake; sisters, Freda Herman, Charlotte Johnson, and Carolyn Miller; and daughter-in-law, Marla Allsup.
