Lynn Provost

Lynn Provost, 90, of Creston, died peacefully Wednesday, May 04, 2022, at the EveryStep Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston.

Celebration of life services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston. Pastor Tony Thurston will officiate the service. Services will be livestreamed with the link available at powersfh.com under the Events sections. Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston.

Open visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to the Greater Regional Hospice Home (1111 Country Club Drive, Creston, Iowa 50801-1001). Online condolences may be made at powersfh.com.

Marilyn ‘Lynn’ (Easter) Provost, daughter of Elza M. Easter and Inez F. (Gallaway) Easter, was born on December 15, 1931, in Des Moines, Ia. At age 4, her family moved from Norwalk to Winterset, Iowa. Her interests growing up included basketball and music, among others. Lynn graduated from Winterset High School in 1950. She continued her schooling at Drake University in Des Moines, where she met her husband, Rick Provost. While residing in Des Moines, Lynn was employed with Aetna Life and Casualty Company.

Lynn and Rick were married on September 12, 1954, at the First Christian Church in Winterset. They made their home initially in Des Moines. As Rick pursued his career as a professor, they moved several times including stops in College Station, Texas; Dekalb, Illinois; Commerce, Texas; Kearney, Nebraska; and finally in 1974, moving to Creston, Iowa. Lynn also enjoyed living at their second home in Mesa, Arizona for many years during the cold Iowa winters.

While living in College Station, they were blessed with two sons, Kevin and Jeff. While raising her sons, Lynn also worked as an administrative assistant and upon moving to Iowa, Lynn began her career as a Real Estate Broker and became a founder/co-owner of Creston Realty until she retired.

Lynn was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), former member of the Bluegrass Board of Realtors, Des Moines Business and Professional Women of Iowa and Iowa Association of Realtors.

Lynn is survived by her sons, Kevin (Jill) Provost of Creston and Jeff (Teresa) Provost of Leawood, Kan.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Rick in 2014 (after 60 years of marriage); father Elza, mother Inez, step-mother Myrtle, brother Jack, step-sister Virginia , granddaughter Valkerie, and many friends and extended family.

Lynn lived her life with grace and almost always a smile on her face.
