Winterset, IowaPeggy Devereaux, 85, of Winterset, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home Winterset Chapel, where family will greet friends one hour prior, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Winterset and/or the Madison County Historical Society.
Peggy was born in Sandwich, Illinois on October 4, 1936, the daughter of William and Dorothy (Humeston) Francis. She was united in marriage to Sheldon Devereaux in 1956. They were married 54 years, until his passing in 2011.
Peggy was a dog groomer. She wintered in Arizona and enjoyed camping, playing golf, and bowling. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and screamed at the TV when they were playing.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Marilea) Devereaux and Lorrie (Jerry) Drake; grandchildren, Morgan (Chris) Mund, Lauren (Kyle) Meadows, Trent (Whitney) Devereaux, David Drake, Donnie Drake, Kellie (Tyler) Gehringer; and 10 great grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sheldon; sisters, Phyllis Reding of Leland, Illinois and Marilyn Renken of Yuma, Arizona.
