Mary "Jo" Frease

Mary Josephine “Jo” (Moorman) Frease, 95, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Azria Health in Winterset.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel with visitation one hour prior beginning at 9:00 a.m., with Pastor Mark Morehouse officiating. Burial will take place in the Scranton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Jo was born on July 22, 1926 in a farm house in Greene County, Iowa to Florence Mae Hennen Moorman and Harold Guy Moorman. She was known to her family and friends as Jo. She attended county school #5 thru 8th grade and graduated from Glidden High School. She then attended AIB business school in Des Moines. Jo married Glenn Frease on December 8, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Glidden, IA. The two were married for 72 years prior to Glenn’s passing in 2018. To this union, two sons were born; Micheale Alan and Kim Steven. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

Jo was a family person. She worked for many years at the Perry Daily Chief newspaper office, First National Bank and loved working at a couple of dress shops. She retired following the birth of her grandsons.

Jo loved life and had many hobbies, but her true love was taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She liked flowers, watching and feeding the birds, reading and playing golf with Glenn. The two spent many winters in Florida where she was close to her son, Mick and his family, had plenty of flowers to admire, and was able to play golf.

Jo is survived by her sons, Mick (Katherine) Frease and Kim (Dorothy) Frease; grandchildren, Ryan, Clint, Jordan, Jeremey, Chad, and step-grandson, Travis; 13 great grandchildren; and many family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; sister, Grace; brothers, Voshel and Harold (Romayne); and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
