Josephine Esther Wenner, 74, of El Cajon, Calif., died of a heart ailment Wednesday at Country Hills Care Center there. The body was cremated, and graveside services will be held at a later date at Winterset Cemetery in Winterset.

Mrs. Wenner, born in Des Moines and formerly of Ames, moved to California four years ago. She had worked for Bell Telephone Co., as well as the Iowa State Computer Laboratory in Ames, and was a member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church in Des Moines.

She is survived by a son, John Elderkin of California; a daughter, Shelley McArthur of El Cajon; a brother, Earle Canfield of Des Moines; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church. Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines is handling arrangements.
