Orrell Larrison Brooks, 95, formerly of 1436 41st., Des Moines, who had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Bertha Wilkinson for the past five years, passed away January 4, 1974, at Des Moines General hospital, as the result of a broken hip. She had been a resident of Altoona Manor for the past three months.

Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of Thomas J. and Catherine Larrison and was born November 18, 1878, at Tipton, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Dexter High school, the University of Northern Iowa and Drake University. She had taught in the public schools of Grand Junction and Dexter, Iowa. She was a case worker with the Polk County Welfare for many years and was later employed by the American Red Cross. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian church in Des Moines and a 50-year member of the Des Moines Women’s Club.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Bertha Wilkinson of Mitchellville, one nephew and several nieces.

Services were held at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Des Moines on January 7, with burial in the Winterset cemetery.
