Betty McKeever, Winterset

Betty McKeever, 77, of Winterset died Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Mercy Hospice House in Johnston, surrounded by her loving family.

There will be a celebration of life for Betty and Monty at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Mercy Hospice House in Johnston, Iowa.

Betty Jean Ham was born Feb. 26, 1942, to Elwood and Garnet (Lake) Ham in Winterset. Betty was raised and attended Macksburg school. Betty married Monty McKeever on Jan. 11, 1958; to this union were born four children – Sherry, Mark, Tammy and Pamela. Betty retired from Principal Financial after 28 years. Betty enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren, and having the blessing of a fifth generation great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Monty of 60 years; granddaughter, Brooke McKeever; daughter-in-law, Dorothy McKeever; and sons-in-law, Rodney Penick and Bill McVay.

She is survived by her children, Sherry (Carl) Burton of Van Wert, Iowa, Mark (Ronda) McKeever of Winterset, Tammy (Bob) Lincoln of St. Charles and Pamela (David) Gamble of Peru; sisters, Eva (Don) Nichols of Winterset and Sharon (Mike) Dean of Ankeny; brother, Dennis Ham of Forney, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
