Blanche Schirm Died Thursday At Age 86

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. from Collins Funeral Home for Blanche Gertrude Schirm, 86, who died Thursday, Oct. 12, 1978, at Villa West Care Center in Winterset.

She was born August 18, 1892, in Adair County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary Ellen Benn Tannatt. Her marriage to Alfred Schirm took place January 17, 1917, in Fontanelle, Iowa.

Mrs. Schirm was a resident of Madison County for 60 years. She was a housewife, affiliated with the First Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband and three sons, Ellsworth of Winterset, Lloyd of Peru and Robert of Urbandale; ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Also surviving, a brother, Ray Tannatt of Fontanelle and a sister, Eva Overmyer, also of Fontanelle.

Mrs. Schirm was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Evertt and Gene and a sister, Clara Meinkey.

Officiating at Saturday’s services was Rev. David Livingston. Burial was made at the Friends Cemetery in Canby, Iowa.
