Vivian Nell Smith

Vivian Smith, 86, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at the Villages of Legacy Pointe in Waukee. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Waukee Christian Church, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private inurnment will be held at Waukee Cemetery.

Vivian was born near Winterset, IA to Emery and Lola Shearer and graduated from Macksburg High School. She married Verle V. Smith on January 20, 1952, and lived in Waukee. Vivian was actively involved for many years at Waukee Christian Church. She retired from the Des Moines Water Works and spent winters in Mesa, AZ. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed walking, hiking, biking, golf and playing cards.

Vivian will be missed by all who knew her, especially those closest to her, her children: Ken and his wife, Priscilla of New York City, NY, Gary and his wife, Mary Jo of Waukee, Gail and his wife Ginger of Urbandale and Elaine Clarke of Huntington Beach; grandchildren: Jamie (Amy) Flugge-Smith of Granger and Jason (Megan) Smith, Danielle (Marc) Emmert and Mandy (Jeff) Baker, both of Urbandale and Braden Clarke of Mesa, AZ; great-grandchildren: Jayden, James, Amina and Emree Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her granddaughter, Leah Smith and her siblings, Dean Shearer and Doris Bailey.
