Belva Elaine Black Streyffeler, daughter of Garry and Clara Coles Black was born in Warren County, Iowa on October 2, 1925. She passed from this life December 6, 2018 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Society in Indianola, Iowa at 93 years of age.

Belva attended Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa and taught school for two years. On May 27, 1945 Belva married David Eugene Streyffeler. Together they served a number of Methodist churches throughout Iowa: Merril-Hinton, Mallard-Curlew, Jesup-Raymond, Trinity-Waverly, St. Luke’s-Dubuque, and Grace-Burlington. She enjoyed being an active pastor’s wife.

After David’s retirement Belva was a faithful volunteer working in the local thrift shop in Branson, Missouri. In later years Belva returned to her hometown of St. Charles to be closer to her sister, Jeanne.

Belva especially enjoyed classical music, could not wait to begin her spring flower gardening and was an active reader. She liked navigating for her pilot husband. She loved entertaining and was known as a good cook. Desert cookies were particularly enjoyed by all who were favored to sample.

She is survived by her sister Jeanne Minard of St. Charles and brother-in-law Sam Streyffeler and many grand-nieces and nephews and several cousins. Her husband David and an infant son James Eugene preceded her in death.

Services will be Wednesday, December 12, 10:00 a.m., St. Charles Parish Church. Guests will be received from 9:15 a.m., prior to service. Interment will immediately follow the service. A light lunch will be served at the church by the Women’s auxiliary following interment.
