Des Moines—Anne E. Covino, 87, of Des Moines, passed on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018.

Anne was borne Anne Elizabeth Rogers on Feb. 7, 1931 in New London to Harriet McDougall and Horace Rogers, she was also the step-daughter of George McDougall.

On April 25, 1953 she married the love of her life, Alfred F. Covino, at St. Joseph’s Church in New London. Before moving to Madison County, Iowa in 1993, she worked for the New London Day and Groton News. While living in Madison County she became director of the Iowa Genealogical Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Anne is survived by her five children, Rosemary Rheaume of Preston, Nancy A. Bruckner of Waterford, Alfred F. Covino, Jr. of Simsbury, Allison E. Fick of Des Moines, Iowa and William S. Covino of Harmony, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Her sisters Patricia Hill of Waterford and Carol Foster-Eccleston of Waterford survive her. Anne also leaves behind her beloved dog “Frankie”.

A graveside service was held Dec. 3, 2018, at Cedar Grove Cemetery in New London. Memorial contributions may be directed to: Animal Rescue League of Iowa, 5452 22nd St., Des Moines, IA 50313.
