Gail Emerson Cline was born in Winterset, Iowa on January 26, 1927, the son of Patrick and Myrtle (Callison) Cline. He was a 1945 graduate of Winterset High School and went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. His marriage to Beverly (Keller) Crase took place in Winterset on August 7, 1965, at the home of Pastor Walter Samp and upon their marriage he became father to three children, Denny, Barbara and Kathy.

Gail worked for Madison County Secondary Roads as part of the bridge and ditch crew for many years. He also farmed for most of his life, worked as a mechanic and was a delivery man for Brown Line. When needed, he also helped his brothers Glenn and Murray with their milk delivery for AE Dairy.

He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #8142 of Winterset and donated a lot of time to the Madison County Historical Society and the Genealogical Society, locating graves as well as setting and repairing monuments. Gail enjoyed woodworking and flower and vegetable gardening. He also enjoyed hunting for fossils, arrowheads, mushrooms, rattlesnakes and he loved a good gooseberry pie! All this said, Gail was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather who cherished his family.

Gail is survived by his wife, Beverly Cline; three children, Denny (Cindy) Crase of Winterset, Barbara (Loren) Nihart of Grain Valley, MO and Kathy (Bob) Crowdes of Ankeny; siblings, Murray Cline of Winterset, Janice Feldman of Van Meter, and Jeanne Reick of Ames; 6 grandchildren, BJ (Kim) Crase, Tassie (Elliot) Corwin, Jacquelyn (Ryan) Ritter, Ruth Ann (Jeremy) Kempker, Josiah (Nicole) Nihart, Joe (Kelsey) Crowdes; and 14 great grandchildren, Tinlee Jo Crase, Briley and Kimber Corwin, Kennedy, Olivia and Hannah Ritter, Easton, Bowen, Henry, Oakley and Theron Nihart, and Jackson, Finn and Archer Crowdes.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ralph Cline, Norma Junkin, Glenn Cline and Wilma Jordan.
